Winter Woes

What Works for Winter Sickness

Winter. Filled with happy, crazy, exhausting times and then crappy times…seriously though. Winter is bustling with the magic of holidays, and when you have young kids (or if you are human) winter is also filled with lots of sickness. Last winter at our house was crazy!! I thought we escaped the winter sicknesses unscathed, but over Thanksgiving the kids were hit with mild runny noses and coughs and this was the start of our terrible winter.

My husband and I treated ourselves for an early Christmas present to a weekend in Vegas and concert featuring my childhood/adult fantasy Boyz II Men. Right before our trip, my husband got a cold that lingered all through the trip. He consumed many cough drops and went through a box of tissues and we both endured a mild case of food poisoning. (Imagine a pregnant lady running through the outlet mall to the bathroom- YIKES!)  Weekend complete, we came home and had a sick free Christmas– thank goodness– but then the New Years winter woes kicked into full effect!

My kids were plagued with runny noses followed by coughs and a fever for several days. I took work off and marched the kids to the doctor’s office. I was informed my daughter was in the beginning stages of pneumonia and the doctor was concerned for my son. Since my son had RSV last year, he was at a higher risk of having his airways slightly restricted because of his previous condition. We got antibiotics for my daughter and got a nebulizer breathing treatment for my son. The sickness in our home made everyone miserable, but my kids recovered fully due to the medial help and out of desperation were found a fantastic product.

Zoe Organics’ Breathing Balm

I stumbled upon this from an Instagram shop/company @ZoeOrganics. Breathing Balm has now become a staple in our household (especially in the winter time!) The product is a balm in stick form that is designed to help ease coughing especially at night. You rub the balm on the chest, neck, back, and bottoms of feet throughout the day and especially at night. I feel like after I used this on my kids they coughed way less, which saved us at night time! To visit their website and to literally- breathe better at night with Breathe Balm, click their link here.

Zoe Organics also sells their products at Target or target.com and you can ship your items to your local Target for free.  -Woot!- If you are human, have kids and get sick during the winter- give Breathing Balm a try. This new discovery, in addition to eating better and taking our vitamins, helped us out so much last winter!! Hopefully, you too can enjoy a peaceful nights rest and avoid those restless coughing, winter woe nights. Anything to alleviate troubles for my kids, I am an instant fan of. Thank you Breathe Balm!

xoxo
