This week is Thanksgiving! Can you believe how quickly time has flown? I swear I was just getting used to school back in session. And now, it’s nearly the end of November. November is one of my favorite months! I turn my attention from stress into gratitude for everything that I have. Gratitude can sometimes be difficult to express, especially in stressful times. However, the Thanksgiving holiday almost forces us to stop and be grateful. In my recent post here… I talk about the three reasons why I wont’t give up on Thanksgiving and why you shouldn’t either.
As a parent I am constantly reminded by social media, friend’s posts, even TV series of all the things I don’t have. Sometimes I feel depressed seeing what people have then compare their picture-perfect life to mine. Comparing is not helping them- or me! The solution? I have found that whenever I feel extra pressure to “have more” I need to turn my attention to gratitude of the things I do have!
Today’s Motivational Monday challenge is to stop right now- okay in five minutes- and write down the three things you are most thankful for. The list can be full of people, sentimental or tangible things. Whatever your list is- write it down and tape it on your mirror. Use these three things to re-focus on the things you have, rather than not. I have found when pressure to “have more” weighs heavy on my mind, the grateful list on my mirror helps me re-focus on what truly matters.
Give this quote a moment to process. Take the time today to write out your list of what you’re most thankful for. The list can be as large as you want. Praying in gratitude or writing the list will help you feel empowered. In fact, once you open the doors of gratitude you’ll find it difficult to narrow down the list to just three.
Happy Thanksgiving friends,
