Motherhood

With Mothers day coming next Sunday, May 8th, we wanted to set this week aside for celebrating and honoring all you fabulous mothers everywhere! So for today’s motivation just take a moment and consider what motherhood means to you, heres my quick story of how I found the meaning of motherhood in my life. Enjoy!

There she was, my seven month old baby girl sitting contentedly in her bright blue bumbo on the back of the houseboat next to her dad who donned a fishing vest and pole in hand.   As my boat neared theirs my heart overflowed with love for our darling baby girl and the man watching over her.  I knew in this moment that although she was within my care and I indeed had birthed her, Kaya wasn’t mine to claim, that she truly belonged to someone of far greater intelligence. My job as her mother was to simply remind her of her divine origin.  I didn’t need to shape Kaya or change her in anyway. I just needed to be present and encourage the already amazing person contained within that little seven month old body to unfold. I just needed to extend to her the gift that had been given to me- trust.

Becoming a mother for me was God’s way of saying,  “I trust you Krissy.”

A mother, by my definition, is a divine steward. So to all the mothers reading this today, may you feel empowered, loved and trusted as you navigate the sometimes muddy waters of encouraging those little ones within your care to become their full and complete selves. That your children, big and small, meet their potential as you, their caregiver meet yours. Try, as you reach for your highest selves, to allow them and encourage them to reach for their highest self. Cherish each fleeting moment, respect your little ones for their greatness as they respect you for yours.

Stay tuned for Jordyn’s great collage tomorrow and an exciting and fun giveaway later in the week! Yay for mommas!

Carpe Diem!
