I haven’t been one to treat myself very much, but sometimes it is much needed! As mom’s it can be so hard to spend or take time for ourselves. I could justify buying kids clothes all day before I’ll justify doing something for myself. I know I’m not the only one who is lifting kids, bending over, and chasing fleeing toddlers all day. It can take a toll on our bodies. I have taken some time to treat myself and my husband to massages on several occasions. We don’t do it all the time (although I wish we could!), but when we really feel like we need one, we do it and always feel so much better after. Not only are massages amazing for sore/tired bodies, but you also literally get to lay down and relax for an hour (or more) straight without tiny children saying your name.
Recently, my husband and I decided to treat ourselves. Since we live in a new area I searched for some reviews for a great (and affordable) place to go. A lady in a FB group raved about Thai massages and how amazing they are. I had only had “traditional-ish” massages, but thought we would try. Let me tell you…it was the strangest/most amazing massage EVER! We weren’t used to this type of massage so we were a little thrown off when the sweetest ladies stated walking on our backs. After my initial shock…I realized that it was quite amazing. They had these bars that they hung onto and proceeded to walk on us and stretch us from every angle. I seriously left feeling like a new woman! I was definitely glad my husband and I decided to embark on the journey together.
Another option other than getting a professional massage, is getting a “kid-massage.” My husband and I both get pretty sore from working out so we invested in this $8 Roller Ball from Amazon and we haven’t looked back. The best part is, my kids actually like using it on me. We turn it into a game (a game where mom definitely wins hehe). They think it is so fun and I do not mind one bit, win-win.
Whatever option you choose (even if it’s not getting a massage). Make sure to treat yourself every now and then (bonus if your significant other can benefit too)! Parents work hard and we deserve some relaxation every now and then!
Also, you’re doing great, mama!!
What ways do you “treat yo self?”
