Disneyland as a child can be magical and special. Going to Disneyland as a parent and walking through a gift shop could make your heart skip a beat. Your eyes will be filled with wonder, but your pocket book will ache knowing the potential problem you could run into with your children.
As a parent you know how difficult it is to go grocery shopping with kids without them begging for something from the store. Now, imagine the exhaustion of walking through multiple Disneyland gift shops after certain rides and those kids begging all day for certain bank-breaking souvenirs? After several hours of patiently telling your child no, it’s enough for any parent to snap at their child at the end of the day. Insert the solution… Fairy Gifts with The Santa Boot Company.
Fairy Gifts
I have heard others call it, Fairy Gifts or Fairy Godmother gifts- but the point? Small gifts magically show up in the kids bed in the morning before heading out to the Disneyland park. The kids get new and little Disney gifts they are excited about and now they know- they don’t have to ask for anything else in the park. Kids are happy and so is your pocket book. Win- win!
Here is what I gifted the kids:
I booked our trip a year out (thanks to Get Away Today and their awesome layaway plan)- which meant I collected items, even clearance items throughout the year.
As you can tell from the pictures, a lot of these items are snacks, foods, drinks- all items I was planning to buy anyway. BUT by gifting them to the kids now, the kids need to purchase a Disneyland gift is minimized. Don’t forget! Some of these Fairy Gifts were activities to entertain the waiting little kids.
Food
These cookies were not only delicious but beautiful to look at! Dulcet Cake Company is owned by Chelsea Hardy and she is the incredibly talented artist behind these Disney inspired cookies. They added the perfect amount of Disney magic to the Santa Boots.
Other items included in the Fairy Gifts…
Clothing
Our group liked the idea of wearing matching shirts for our three day visit. We had lots of fantastic companies sponsor our shirts for the days we were on Vacation.
Polka Dot Pixie Shop – Edna and Pocahontas shirts-
My goodness meeting Edna was hilarious. She has so much spunk! She kept pointing to my son’s shirt with the Incredible symbol on it and throwing her hands up and bowing. And of course when she read through the text on my shirt- she was ecstatic and gave me kisses on each cheek.
- Magical Threads Company- Pink shirts- “Just another magical day”
These pink sparkly shirts are incredibly soft. The only downside to this shirt, was they were see-through so we didn’t wear these shirts without something underneath or with a jacket.
- Muggle Mouse– Cal Dal Shirt- Multi colored shirt-
There are very few “cool” guy shirts- these were the perfect collection for the boys in our group that wanted to dress up.
- Friday Apparel– “After This We’re Getting Churros”
You guys should seriously check out their clothing line, but their darling Disney Apparel is my favorite. Check it out here– Friday Apparel has graciously given our readers a discount code of 20% off their clothing for the rest of the year! Woot- Use our code “mommyconvos” for Disney clothing savings.

Mickey Ears
- Magic My Ears– food themed ears- I asked specifically for these ears because Disney is known for their delicious food and treats. These ears are the perfect collection of treats and food and paired with the darling Friday Apparel shirt- I thought these two items were the perfect combo. 😀
- Imaginexears– Elsa ears- OH MY GOSH! You guys these ears were the coolest! (haha see what I did there?) My Elsa-obsessed daughter loved wearing these ears in Disneyland. When we met Groot- he hesitantly touched Lexie’s ears worried he would freeze upon the touch.
- Imaginexears also gifted us these darling Aurora tiaras. Before our trip I thought I was a Mickey Ears wearing lady and turns out– I’m not. I do however, like the simplicity of showing off my Disney love with a beautiful princess tiara. Thanks to he owners Bryce and Shan for sending the tiara and beautifully crafted Elsa ears we got compliments all day long.
Continuing the list:
- Toddler leash- seriously a life saver! Check out the Disney inspired one we snagged just for the trip.
- Bubbles
- Play and Pack Grab and Go- Disney coloring pages and crayons
- Disney books
- New toy for the baby
- Glow sticks, necklaces, bracelets
**TIP** Glow in the dark stuff is perfect for entertaining kids while waiting for the parade to begin. Plus, if your toddler insists on walking on their own, give them a bright yellow sword- now they’re hard to misplace running in the crowds. 😉
Saving Money on Souvenirs in California
Even though the Disney Fairies left something special for my kids everyday, they wanted to pick a small souvenir of their own out at the end of the trip. So, we drove a couple miles down the street from Disneyland and walked through Target on Harbor Blvd. You guys- the whole front section was allll Disney items all for a fraction of the price inside the park. Plenty of Disney shirts, autograph notebooks and pens (The pen inside the park was $10.00) and the pins! My kids received pins this trip- and at the park we could find plenty of pins for less than $10.00. Wanna guess where the price point for pins started inside the park? You guessed it- over $10.00.
All three of my kids picked out something small, an Elsa pin for my daughter and we picked out two big Disney magnets. We walked out of Target spending less than $20.00. Talk about savings! Apparently a local Anaheim Walmart also offers souvenirs.
Alternative to Character Book Autographs
The first time my family went to Disneyland we purchased an autograph book for the characters to sign. After we returned from our trip, we never looked at that prized book again. After a quick Pinterest search I discovered characters are willing to sign a blank picture frame. Our second visit to Disneyland we tried the picture frame and discovered it was a pain to keep flat during our trip. However, we came home from our trip, printed off some pictures and hung it on the wall. And you guys- we love seeing our picture frame with all the Disneyland characters signatures and talk about our trip. It’s perfect. Now that we’ve done the picture frame for the second time- we’ll add another frame to our vacation wall.
