How to Declutter Your House in 21 Days

in Clean & Tidy, Guest Post on 30/01/19

It’s a new year so why not start it off by removing some of the clutter from your home. Let’s make 2019 the year you get control of all the ‘stuff’ in your home! This infographic from HappyCleans looks at how you can transform your home in just 21 days so why not make it one of your resolutions?

Get Rid of Paper

Let’s start with all the random bits of paper people tend to needlessly keep in the house. This might be things old bills or receipts from years ago that you have yet to throw out and pointlessly keep. Sift through all paper items organizing what you need to keep and throw away or recycle the rest.

Clear the Fridge

The fridge and freezer is another area that is often filled with items that have expired or random food you never plan to eat. While you’re at it, it’s also generally a good idea to take note of items that are near their expiration date so they can be eaten as soon as possible.

Sort Your Books

Magazines and books fall into a similar needless category. We may store books even though we never plan on reading them again! Many of these books would be greatly appreciated by local charities.

The entertainment area is another area in the house that often suffers from needless clutter. With so many people enjoying their Netflix subscription or watching shows online, DVDs and Blu-rays are becoming redundant.

Don’t Forget the Car

Sometimes we create messes in our mini house sitting in the driveway or garage – the car! Take two bags to the car, one for trash and one for items that need to be returned to their rightful place in the house.

It’s only a 21 day commitment so why not begin your decluttering journey today?

Key Takeaways

It’s okay to have a free-for-all day if you need it. Not every house is the same. While some will have issues with areas of their home that were mentioned, others may have more of a problem with cluttered closets. So decluttering can vary from home to home and person to person.

Don’t get discouraged if you miss a day and just pick up where you left things the next day when you find the time. Have a read through the full infographic now and start thinking about which areas of your house really need decluttering! Enjoy!
