Hospital Bag Must-Haves
Freshly Picked Giveaway
With the due date of my baby girl approaching I have been thinking a lot about what to pack in the hospital bag. I have two kids already, you would think I would be a pro, but it seems there are always improvements to be made. I have done some research and compiled some of my must-haves in a list to share with all of you!
As I said earlier I have done this two times. This time I decided to do a little more research and to spoil me and baby a little bit too. I found the cutest bag to pack all these essentials in and it comes with some essentials as well. (pictures). The bag is called the: Bringing Home Baby Bundle from Freshly Picked. The bag includes a beautiful robe for mom that has easy access for skin to skin and breastfeeding and has the comfiest material! It also includes socks for mom, which are a must have in hospitals. The baby essentials from this bag as listed a few paragraphs below, but they all come in a diaper bag that is a great size and super cute. It also came in a white bag that is to be used for laundry. Seriously genius for storing dirty clothes during the hospital stay.
In the bag it’s important to also include essentials like a camera and phone charger to capture all those baby firsts. I also included toiletries as with my last two it was important for me to feel like human again by brushing my teeth hair, and putting on some mascara. I was only in the hospital one night with each of my other two kids so I decided to just shower at home, but I think packing some shower essentials just in case will be beneficial.
Having chap stick and lotion on hand is a must have. I love lotion and soap from Tubby Todd and The Honest Company and cream from Zoe Organics as they are all organic and have the best ingredients for mom and baby.
Some essentials for breastfeeding moms are a nursing bra, breast, pads, a Boppy Pillow, and nipple cream. I will ask my Dr. for a prescription for Dr. Newman’s Nipple cream to have on hand as it literally saved my life with my first two. I don’t know what it is or what’s even in it, but it saved me those first few months of breastfeeding. It helped so much with sore/cracked nipples and preventing thrush.
A lot of hospitals offer most of the baby essentials like diapers and wipes. Some essentials that I plan on bringing for baby are the swaddle blanket (the blanket that comes with the Bringing Home Baby Bundle, Aden and Anais, and Modern Burlap are my Fave!), newborn hat, and crib moccasins from the Freshly Picked “Bringing Home Baby Bundle”. Along with these, I will bring two spare outfits, a burp cloth, a binky, and socks. We will of course have our carseat (Our Maxi Cosi that I’m so excited for) and our Milk Snob carseat/ Nursing cover for the car seat along with our Padalily Car Seat Cushion.
The hospital provides a lot of essentials for baby and mom so make sure you stock up!! Hey you’re being charged anyway, might as well take advantage hehe. They provide the diapers and wipes for baby (I even took some extra to take home). The hospital provides Dermoplast, which is for sores, to help relieve itching for healing stitches, etc. It just sprays on so it makes application very easy!! They also provide tucks wipes/pads (stock up on these!!) and a squirt bottle.
One other thing I have been thinking about is having “gifts from little sister.” For the older siblings. I think it is important to make them feel included and excited about having their baby sister join our family so I will be throwing in two gifts for them from her (most likely Frozen and Superhero themed).
Other essentials include insurance cards, our birth plan, and my ID.
To make things a bit easier—Here’s a printable of the list (a regular list and a list for the lighter packer):
