It isn’t Christmas without…. (fill in the blank)… Here at Mommy Convos, we ladies like our holiday treats! And just your luck- we are going to share our favorite treats with you!
As soon as this stuff appears in the grocery store I am busting down the isles to get this sweet-drinkable-goodness home! We go through wayyyy too many cartons of this goodness during the month of December. And now, they are offering Eggnog as early as Halloween! Score!! Delicious holiday treat always found in my fridge.
2.) Queen Anne.
It’s chocolate covered cherries! Need I say more?
3.) Peppermint Ice cream- chunky style.
I loooove the real peppermint ice cream that has the chunks of peppermint stick inside the ice cream. Delicious. Apparently, I have missed the boat, because I have never tried this ice cream IN my hot chocolate OR a peppermint ice cream pie. I didn’t know there were such things! Last year- a friend dropped by a peppermint pie and ummm hello!! Delicious! If you have tried all three kinds- which way do you like your peppermint ice cream served?
1.) Grandma Chris’ Homemade Cranberry Cake
Cranberry Cake with Butter Sauce
(Don’t laugh, my kids came up with the name)… We made this fun holiday treat up one night when there was a fresh blanket of snow outside. To make this frozen treat you grab snow from outside, pour and mix Sprite, juice, sparkling cider (or whatever we have) mix it together and tada- you made a Twitteriss aka- slushy!
3) I second Morgan on the eggnog and peppermint ice-cream!
1.) Eggnog Blizzards.
We have hoarded these every year since I can remember. Every time December hits, we race to Dairy Queen to stuff our faces with this heavenly frozen treat.
2.) Christmas Eve Pizza.
Although this isn’t really a treat, it is an indulge and it is a classic at our house. Every Christmas Eve we order pizza and open our pajamas. This has been a tradition as long as I can remember. All I know is that pizza tastes better on Christmas Eve!
3.) Grandma’s Homemade Fudge.
Since my Grandma passed, our whole family has been missing her amazing fudge. She made this every year and it was what she passed out to her neighbors and friends. She would have my brother and I help stir the fudge then while it was “setting” no one could get near the bowl at all or else you were in deep trouble!! This is a classic Christmas treat and one that we miss greatly!!
1.) Stuffing, stuffing, and more stuffing- tweaked to perfection of course!
Christmas dinner just isn’t complete without an awesome stuffing recipe. We grew up on Stove Top brand stuffing, but my mom has always been a huge fan of adjusting recipes to make it just the way we like it. Throw in some chopped celery, cranberries, walnuts and a little chicken broth and you have yourself a super delicious stuffing without the hassle of making it from scratch.
2.) Oreo truffles.
This obsession needs no further explanation. No holiday at our house is void of this decadent treat, and for a darn good reason.
3.) Christmas morning pancakes (or French toast).
This has been a tradition since I was a little girl. We weren’t allowed to break into the presents before breakfast, but we were totally okay with that! Nothing beats pancakes, bacon, and hot cocoa on a snowy Christmas morning. My hubby and I are huge fans of Kodiak Cakes pancake mix and use it regularly to tweak our favorite gingerbread pancake recipe. It. Is. AMAZING!
4.) Speaking of cocoa…
Stephen’s Gourmet Cocoa Mix is a holiday staple for us. Wait… who am I kidding? We drink this stuff all year long… It’s THAT good. The dark chocolate raspberry and mint chocolate are just two of our favorites, but you can’t go wrong with Stephen’s. 🙂
5.) And last, but not least, sugar cookies!
Every year we make oodles and oodles of sugar cookies (and my dad’s famous chocolate chip cookies) to hand out to our neighbors and friends as we wish them a Merry Christmas. Typically we would make the dough from scratch, but this year there just isn’t the time. So I was browsing our local Costco and came across Krusteaz Bakery-Style sugar cookie mix and knew it would be perfect. (And this particular recipe comes as close to homemade as it gets!) Plus, I couldn’t say no to 21 dozen cookies worth of awesomeness for only $2.97 (yup- no joke.)
Is your mouth wasn’t watering while reading that list? Have we encouraged you to find a set of keys to head to the store of any of these items- I don’t know what will!
Wishing you a Happy Holiday enjoying your favorite holiday treats and that your waistline will not expand either!
