Happy Motivational Monday! I recently attended two very emotional and heart wrenching funerals. Both events were very tragic, and incredibly thought provoking. Somehow every time I attend a funeral, I come away inspired to make the most of my life, to really live to the fullest, making every day count.
My friend and I were talking the other day and I explained to her that we had made a little extra money lately and put it towards my husband’s student loan, although it was exciting to see that debt diminish I felt sad about the memories we could have made with that money by going on an awesome trip or a few awesome trips. She then challenged me to come up with a list of 20 things that I could do to create memories without that money. I gladly accepted the challenge and compiled my list and started adventuring with my kiddos!
In my Elevate Your Vibe series I touched on the vibration of different emotional states, from depression/ apathy up into gratitude/joy. Something else that I learned in studying and writing those articles is that the there is a naturally more elevated vibe in nature, where we can connect more fully and find peace. Quite a few of the items on my list involved hiking and being outside with my kids. And let me tell you the difference of when I make an intentional effort to spend time outside with my kids we have much better days with less fighting than on the days that we don’t get outside as much!
At my dear friend’s wife’s funeral, he read one of her writings that touched me deeply,
‘No matter how easy entertainment is to access in this digital age, these are mostly distractions from real-life experiences. Of course, real life has a lot more struggle and hardship than easy entertainment, but it is this living, this living, this living-that gives us meaning’
-Sharry Buhanan-Decker
I’ve often heard that most people’s biggest regrets are the things they never did. Is this true? Not sure, but it’s certainly not a regret that I want to live with! So start your list today!
What are some memories you’ve been wanting to create? What ‘distraction’ are you willing to let go of? What is it you’ve been holding yourself back from trying? Get out there and do it!
Carpe Diem,
Krissy
I would love to see your list! Snap a pic and share with us! Thanks for the great perspective.
