Glad you made it back for part 3 of the ‘Elevate Your Vibe’ series! If you missed the first two, just click here & here to get caught up! I hope these last weeks were filled with a lot less guilt and shame and more celebration and joy! Lets dive right into today’s topics of apathy and depression and learn some simple tools to spring out of them.
Apathy and depression vibrate down there at about 50. Hmmm.. On Dr. Hawkins’ vibrating scale of emotions 0-1000, that’s just not where we want to be! There are two main things to look at to spring yourself out of a depressive and apathetic state: your body language and your thoughts.
When you are feeling apathetic or depressed, take note of your physiology. How are you standing? How are your shoulders? Are your shoulders slumping forward? How about your head, is it down or up? What is your body’s position?
Second: What are you focusing on? Where are your thoughts? Are you dwelling on something that can’t be changed, something from the past perhaps?…
When you have the answers to these questions, you can consciously make the effort to change your thoughts and physiology; ultimately, elevating your vibe!
First: Look up, smile. Take a deep breath, stand up, move, run, jump, turn on some fun music and dance!
Second: Think of something or someone you love, something you’re grateful for or one of your favorite memories.
Immediately, with very little work you have shifted these feelings. Thoughts precede feelings and as soon as you recognize this, you give yourself the power to change your feelings!
In fact, I once accidentally reminded my five-year-old of an “owie” she got from bonking her leg on a toy. She immediately made a frowny face and became sad as she remembered the not so pleasant event. I quickly realized my mistake and changed the subject by asking her what her favorite part of tumbling class was. She immediately smiled, laughed and recounted her fun events. Pretty simple and yet such a powerful distraction technique and just as applicable with us adults!
You see, if you allow life to simply pass by, you can easily become weighed down by so-called mundane tasks, events happening in and out of our communities, and the weight of the world’s problems. But in the moment that you choose to believe that what’s within you is much, MUCH stronger than without, in that moment YOU WIN. YOU become more powerful than any so called problem, YOU become the creator of your world, You decide how you will choose to feel and see and think and speak! I CHOOSE THAT! How about you?
Carpe Diem! -Krissy
