This week’s Friday Favorites has no theme, rhyme, or reason- these are just three household items that make my life happy! From the Bissell Symphony to vacuum while I mop, to an ingenious device that hooks up to my hose to water my garden for me, and… super cute straws!
- I just enjoy these straws. They are a reusable heavy plastic, and they are just the perfect size and weight to help me like my water and drinking more of it. Pictured below is how I’m usually sporting it- big mug with lots of ice! 🙂 These straws are cheery and fun, right? Get them here with free shipping!
2. The Bissell Symphony:
I like to vacuum AND mop my hard floors at the same time. Sounds too good to be true? It’s mostly true. So here’s the quick backstory for this favorite. I used to run a cleaning business, and had several other professional cleaners tell me I would love using a steam mop. “Why?” I thought, “I like my Shmop!” Well let me tell you: A steam mop uses hot steam to do a ton of the scrubbing for you. Dried spills lift off like a cloud- literally 🙂 I love the idea of having the mop (almost) sanitize my floors with the hot temperatures and I don’t even use chemicals. In my last home, my steam mop cleaned the tile so deeply that there was this hilarious 1/2 inch line along my baseboards where the mop head couldn’t quite reach. I returned to that space with a hot cleaning rag and it lifted off that dirt and it stayed off. I bought my steam mop used and loved it till it broke- I think I was supposed to use distilled water… oops! Anyway, when I moved to my new house with wood floors, I put off getting a new one until we were settled in for a year. I’m so glad I waited- because now I got this guy that has the vacuum in the same unit for my birthday and its a fave!
The Bissell Symphony- vacuum/mop combo is a dream! This fantastic cleaning tool works great for quick cleanups of crumbs and little bits of food to vacuum, or to vacuum and steam mop for a short bit. Another feature this steam/mop tool does that I also love- works great for a good thorough cleaning. I sweep all the floors and then use the steam mop on all my wood and use the vacuum as needed for the spots I missed with my broom! I feel like it is more efficient and more thorough method than than my old sweep and then shmop method. This Bissell comes with a few disposable pads too!
So it IS “too good to be true” to think you’ll never use a broom again. This vacuum just isn’t set up to do an immaculate job at sweeping and mopping with one pass if I have my fully loaded dustpan with an entire-day-at-home-kid-debris 😉 If it did, we’d probably have to pay more than $179. Doesn’t mean I can’t still LOVE the Bissell- Symphony for what it does do for me! Check it out here. I ended up getting the pet version because the reviews and price were better, though they look like the same product. I have tried four or so different steam mops and I would buy this one all over again! BONUS: it fits perfectly in between my extra freezer and the wall in my pantry, and stands up easily on it’s own! Fave.
3. Lastly, we just discovered this handy little water timer for our tomato garden. We set it up so that it lets the water from the hose pass through for 15 minutes, every other day. Then on the end of the hose is a sprinkler. Brilliant, right? With this fancy device our garden no longer gets neglected and we didn’t spend a few hours figuring out how to put a drip system in. Boom! Favorite! Get one here on Amazon.
Hope one or more of these things makes you feel happy reading about them, like they did for me! Have an awesome weekend! -Jennica
