This post was published last Summer when our family went on several expected trips to stay in Las Vegas and California. Traveling with kids can be stressful, but luckily there are some products that are super helpful. Below are the three products that absolutely saved me on our trips with three littles.
This was a serious lifeSAVER! In Vegas we were out and about a lot. With the baby, as soon as I would put her in the Solly Wrap she would fall asleep. She seriously loves it. I think it makes her feel like she is back in the womb as she is close to mom, and nice and secure. On our Vegas trip, we had to go on a 2.5 hour tour of the place we stayed at (so our stay was free!! Woot woot!). The baby started to get fussy and as soon as I put her in the Solly Wrap, she slept the rest of the time. I kept getting comments on how great she was the whole time and how cool the wrap was. I felt pretty hip hehe.
When we were in California, we went to a graduation party for my brother-in-law. At the party there were a lot of people. The baby was only two months so I didn’t really want any hands touching her. Solly Wrap to the rescue! I put her in the wrap so she was close and most people just wanted to look at her, but didn’t ask to hold her. A total plus! She also slept the majority of time and I was hands-free to play with my other kids and eat my heart out.
I swear by this genius invention! The Milk Snob Cover is a nursing and Car Seat cover that was a big must have for traveling. Since my family was in public with a newborn, it was important to keep her covered from all the people and germs. The Milk Snob cover is awesome because it stays on the car seat and is still breathable. Having a newborn while travelling can be a challenge for breastfeeding moms. With this cover, I could feed the baby when we were out and about. We were also at my in-laws house and had family in our hotel room and with the Milk Snob I could cover up, feed the baby and still hang out. It is awesome to have one product for two important uses.
One of my favorite uses that I discovered was when we were at my brother-in-law’s graduation party. It was outside at a park and it was pretty windy. My baby still does the newborn reflex when the wind blows on her. The reflex where she holds her breath and swallows when even the littlest puff of air hits her face. I combined the Milk Snob with the Solly Baby Wrap to prevent the reflex and allow her to breathe normally. I wrapped her in the Solly Wrap then placed the Milk Snob over me and her to protect her from the wind. It worked great and also protected her from the windy days while she was in her car seat. It also helped keep germy hand off her, which is a big plus for this germ-a-phobe mama.
I’ve written a post about our love for the dock a tot before and I will reiterate it again. The DockATot Deluxe saved us on our trip with the newborn. We were able to have her in the hotel bed safely with us. She slept well because it was how she sleeps at home. For lounge time, it was also nice to put the baby down in the DockATot when we needed our hands free. The DockATot comes with a carrying case making it easy to haul around while traveling.
We also brought our DockATot Grand for my two-year old when we went to California. The Grand is a much bigger, since it is for a child, so it wasn’t quite as easy to bring along as the Deluxe. We stayed in two different hotel rooms while in California. My two-year old switched back and forth from his pack and play to the DockATot depending on the sleeping situation. One night he and my three-year-old shared the pull out couch bed. I was able to put him in the DockATot Grand so they didn’t roll into each other. He also liked lounging in it in the hotel in-between activities. I’m excited to use the DockATot Grand in the near future as we transition my two-year old to a toddler bed as well.
Overall, traveling with lots of kids is hard. Kids are off their schedules, there’s endless junk food, and bedtime and nap time are nonexistent. Along with the schedule mishaps, grandparents or other family members spoil the children uncontrollably. It can be chaotic at times, but thanks to these awesome products we kept a little bit of our sanity while making fun memories we will -hopefully- cherish for a long time.
What products do you swear by when traveling? We are planning on writing a follow up collaborative post with on some of our must-haves for traveling with kids. Share your must-haves below so we can add them to our list!
