President’s Day weekend is coming up, and for St. George, Utah, that means the Parade of Homes 2019 is almost here! Hooray! For thousands of people, this is one of our favorite events to attend all year. I’ve talked about the many reasons WHY we love the Parade of Homes, but today, I want to share a few more photos/ideas from last year’s parade we haven’t posted yet!
A few of my fave spaces from the Parade of Homes 2018:
This laundry room had such a neat feel to it! Usually laundry rooms are kind-of the last place in your house you want to spend time in, but this… Man…! The low roof-line, the soft, buffalo check LVT flooring, and the cute little kid hide-out/ playroom…! It’s all so cozy and functional! A lot of mom-life is spent doing laundry, and so I really appreciated the thought that went into this room.
This bedroom is from the same home in Santa Clara, built by Slate Ridge Homes. I loved the textures here and the black door (I love it for the contrast, and upkeep on keeping it clean!) to it’s own little balcony. My parents had a balcony growing up and it was actually my favorite “room” in the house.
These homes had so many cute kid spaces, it was hard to choose fave photos! I like to think kids might not mind keeping this space orderly ’cause it looks so inviting when it’s clean like this?
I love the trend for non-jetted tubs that beg you to hop in! The spray hose can come in handy for rinsing little heads or even for cleaning the tub itself! Speaking of cleaning— I have cleaned many jetted tubs over the years, and if you’ve cleaned those little jets before too— you know: they are pretty dang tedious! This simple design is a great way to go.
I REALLY want to hang a swing like this in our home somewhere! I think swings are totally underrated! For kids on an autistic, adhd, or sensory processing spectrum, swings can be extra helpful!
When we built our home, we chose to do a cabinet like this where the doors roll in— We’ve certainly enjoyed it! I have ALL our most used appliances in there so they never need to be unplugged. So- blender, crock pot, & toaster-oven- they all live out of site, but SOO accessible! This one is way prettier than mine though! I would suggest getting a recommendation from a customer about how well the cabinet company does these- our hardware kept coming loose and has even taken chunks out of the cabinet as it bangs into the sliding hardware- but even with it’s imperfections, I’m glad we did it.
Let’s talk light sconces in the bedroom:
This pretty sconce got me thinking— I LOVE having a lamp for my girls’ rooms cause it makes story time feel more cozy! But, my kids are kind of rough on our house. We have gone through many a lamp-shade over the years! A wall-mounted sconce would be more out-of-the-way and more durable. Okay, actually, now that I’m analyzing the functionality of this particular fixture— I can totally see toddlers wanting to bend this design, and thus ALSO breaking another lamp! So— something that just stays on the wall and doesn’t egg on a toddler to touch it— I think is our sweet spot! For a guest room though this design is perfect! The wall-mounted fixture keeps the side table open!
What an entry, right? If you follow Mommy Convos, you know we love a good “take off your shoes” system! We think this one is great!
Okay- This little ladder leads up to a play area above the closet! This could happen in so many homes and we don’t even think about it! My friend just remodeled a home this year and decided to utilize some space in their tall hallway (and more) to have more play room for the kids! I certainly would NEVER have thought of that!
This pantry was super fun and unique. They have a glass cupboard with a rotating, multi-tiered lazy susan. It even had it’s own lighting! I also enjoy seeing these contemporary bold, black kitchens too.
I love the unique tile here and appreciate the fun sink. Gotta say though, I wouldn’t choose the sink for my home.. I’m too practical, guys! There will be occasions that you want the counter space and storage underneath 🙂 In contrast: the two faucets- not so much! I think in the long-run functionality should win, but that’s me- and I would love visiting and using this darling bathroom 🙂
Such pretty garage doors and cool driveway! It’s just faux grass, so not an on-going chore to trim it. I hardly took any exterior photos from the parade of homes 2018, but there is so much to appreciate in that sphere too!
These chairs look so comfortable and sturdy, and easy to wipe clean! And my little Abby is there peeking out the windows. By the way— can you have too many windows? I don’t think you can! Anyway, its a fun reminder of the special times I’ve enjoyed bringing my kids along to the parade!
